DESCRIPTION

Emil is a social media-obsessed entrepreneur in one of the most remote places on earth: an abandoned Soviet mining town in the mountains of eastern Kyrgyzstan. Tracing his roots to the nomadic tribes that once roamed the area, Emil has returned to put his village back on the map by convincing wealthy tourists and famous bloggers to go there on vacation.

When Noam Argov first came to us with a story of an eccentric man trying to coax tourists to his forgotten village in Eastern Kyrgyzstan, we knew we wanted in. We got our start making ski videos with our friends, so the chance to spend time in the bucolic village of Jyrgalan with a character like Emil felt like a dream come true. We ended up making two trips with Noam to this sleepy Kyrgyz town and came back with over 150 hours of footage. In the end it’s become something we’re really proud of.
