On April 25th, 2015 Burundi's President Pierre Nkurunziza announced he would amend the constitution to seek a third term in office. The resulting protests pitted civilians against the police and imbonerakure militia forces. Widespread killings and sporadic grenade attacks ensued, centered around the capital city of Bujumbura.
